Everyone is familiar with Maria Shriver, an American journalist, novelist, and former first lady of California who is both beautiful and intelligent. In addition to being well-known for her profession, Maria is well-known for being the niece of John F. Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States.
Maria Shriver Married, Husband
Tom Brokaw, a fellow journalist, introduced Maria Shriver to her ex-husband Arnold Schwarzenegger at a charity tennis event held at her mother’s house. Soon after they started dating, Maria and Arnold transitioned from being friends to a relationship. Following their engagement, the couple wed on April 26, 1986, at St. Frances Xavier Roman Catholic Church in Hyannis, Massachusetts. They had Katherine, their first child, three years later in 1989. In 1991, 1993, and 1997, respectively, they also welcomed their other three children, Christina, Patrick, and Christopher.
Until Maria learned that Arnold had been looking after the housekeeper’s child for 14 years, the pair had a blissful marriage. Maria promptly filed for divorce after experiencing heartbreak. In 2011, she started living independently after leaving their home. Maria and Arnold are still technically married even though the divorce was filed about eight years ago. They may also claim the Guinness World Record for the longest divorce in history. Arnold and Maria currently date different persons and don’t feel animosity toward one another.
Maria Shriver Parents
On November 6, 1955, Maria Shriver was born. Her parents, politician Sargent Shriver and activist mother Eunice Kennedy Shriver raised her in Chicago, Illinois, in the United States of America. Maria is of Irish and German ancestry. She received her education from Manhattan Ville College and Westland Middle School. Maria graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Arts after two years of community college.
Career
Maria’s career has been amazing. She spent the years 1978 to 1985 working as an anchor for KYW-TV throughout her early career. She transferred to The CBS network after working there. She was a co-anchor for The CBS Morning News at this location. She moved to NBC Network after working at CBS. From 1986 until 1990, she served as a co-anchor for Weekend Today. After relocating, Maria joined NBC Nightly News and served as the Saturday anchor. She also worked for Dateline NBC as a correspondent and contributing anchor. Following her tenure as California’s first lady, Maria took the helm of the Governor & First Lady’s Conference on Women in California, where she organized a number of events focusing on the rights, education, and empowerment of women.
Along with being a journalist and an activist, Maria is also the author of numerous books, including What’s Paradise, What’s Happening to Grandpa, and Ten Things I Wish I’d Known Before I Headed Out Into The Real World.
