Who is Manuela Escobar?
Manuela Escobar is the only daughter of Pablo Escobar, the legendary Colombian drug lord, and narco-terrorist known as ‘The King of Cocaine.’
Her life has been nothing short of a fantastic adventure, as she has encountered things that most people could only conceive in their wildest imaginations. She was her father’s favorite child. Pablo Escobar, the world’s wealthiest criminal, will go to any length to fulfill even his daughter’s tiniest demands.
He was reportedly said to have burned $2 million to keep his little princess warm at one point. Manuela, who was deemed a spoiled little girl by her father at the time, held all of the world’s riches in her tiny hands. When her father was shot and killed by Colombian National Police when she was nine years old, her fairy tale life came to an end.
Things changed dramatically after her father died, and she fled Colombia with her mother and brother to avoid retaliation. Before seeking shelter in Argentina, the three of them traveled to countries such as Brazil, Ecuador, South Africa, and Peru. Manuela changed her name to Juana Manuela Marroquin Santos and has lived a rather quiet and discreet life since.
Manuela Escobar: Bio, Age, Ethnicity, Sibling
Manuela Escobar was the younger of two children born to Pablo Escobar and his wife, Maria Victoria Henao, on May 25, 1984. Juan Pablo Escobar Henao, her older brother who went on to become an architect and author, has also changed his name to Sebastián Marroqun. Manuela, unlike other children her age, was homeschooled rather than attending a public school. This was done to protect her from her father’s enemies. In fact, she had a near-deafening experience on January 13, 1988, when a murder attempt on her father resulted in a car bomb explosion at their Monaco apartment complex. Pablo is said to have blamed Colombian drug lord Hélmer Herrera for the attack.
When her father was alive, Manuela Escobar was treated like a princess. Pablo Escobar was a devoted parent who would spoil his children and go to great lengths to fulfill their desires. She once wished for a unicorn as a birthday present. Pablo, being the kind father that he was, built a unicorn out of a horse for his daughter, despite the fact that it was an impossible task. The horse’s forehead was stapled with a cow’s horn, and its back was adorned with wings.
The horse, on the other hand, died of infection during the procedure. Manuela’s father may have also burned stacks of dollar bills worth $2.0 million to protect her from hypothermia while hiding with his family in the Medellin foothills. When the darling daughter questioned about the value of a billion dollars, the doting father reportedly replied, “the value of your eyes, my princess.” Her father allegedly promised her that she would be the last of his line, according to sources. Pablo was so devoted to his daughter that he had one of his mistresses abort her baby in order to keep his commitment.

Manuela Escobar’s Life After Pablo Escobar’s Death
When Pablo Escobar was killed in a gunfight by the Colombian National Police on December 2, 1993, Manuela Escobar’s life changed dramatically. In 1995, she had to quit Colombia with her mother, Maria Victoria Henao, now known as Mara Isabel Santos Caballero, and brother, Juan, leaving behind all the splendor of her life. The family escaped to Mozambique and then to Brazil in order to avoid the retaliation of her father’s enemies. The family moved from country to country in search of sanctuary, eventually settling in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on tourist visas and eventually as citizens in exile from Colombia.
Manuela Escobar began her new life in Argentina as Juana Manuela Marroquin Santos, alongside her mother and brother, who had also changed their identities. The young girl was so loyal to her father that she slept in the garment he wore on his final day. She also kept a sliver of Pablo’s beard under her pillow. She began attending school with her brother in Argentina, as her mother grew into a successful real estate developer.
As things began to settle down, one of her mother’s business acquaintances uncovered her mother’s true identity, and Henao fled with her winnings. Henao was apprehended and imprisoned for a year and a half while her finances were investigated. Henao was released because the investigators discovered no link between her finances and any illicit conduct. However, this tragedy and the discovery of her family’s identity had a negative impact on Manuela Escobar’s life, and she retreated to her four walls and refused to return to school. She was then offered private lessons at her home.
Where is Manuela Escobar now?
Manuela Escobar’s current life is largely unknown, as she appears to have decided to avoid the limelight. Her mother and brother did, however, talk to the media multiple times in the years that followed. Sebastián Marroqun, Manuela’s brother, published Pablo Escobar: My Father in 2014 under the name Juan Pablo Escobar, but Manuela has been silent for a long time. She is also not on social media and appears to be pleased with her new identity and enjoying a quiet life away from the dark shadows of her past.
