The Office of Housing and Neighborhood Services under Mayor Willie Brown allowed London Breed to work there as an intern. She was chosen to serve as the African American Art & Culture Complex’s executive director in 2002. In November of the same year, she won the election for District 5 supervisor. On January 8, 2015, she also won the election for President of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.
