Her father was a surgeon who performed liver and kidney transplants and was born, raised, and educated in South Korea before emigrating to the United States to practice medicine. But regrettably, on March 13, 2009, her father passed away from colon cancer.
Her parents sent her to Boston University because they wanted her to pursue a decent education.
