Professional Career
L.A. Reid’s career started when he met a drummer from the rock band Pure Essence. After being renamed, it was given the name Essence. In the 1980s, he was a member of the band ‘The Deele.’ It launched the hit track “Two Occasions” before disbanding.
In 1989, he co-founded LaFace Records with Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds. It immediately became a favorite hangout for a wide range of artists. He then joined 14’s label at the moment.
