On August 11, 2020, presidential candidate Biden announced his choice of erstwhile opponent Harris as his running partner. He had stated
“I have the tremendous honor to announce that I’ve chosen Kamala Harris as my running partner – a brave warrior for the little guy and one of the country’s finest public servants,” Biden stated. “Kamala worked closely with Beau when she was Attorney General. I observed as they stood up to the large banks, helped working people, and protected women and children from violence. I was proud then, and I am proud now to have her as my campaign partner.”

“I’m pleased to stand with him as our party’s nominee for Vice President, and I’ll do everything in my power to make him our Commander-in-Chief,”
She is also the first Black woman and person of South Asian heritage to be nominated by a major party for a national office. She is also only the fourth woman in history to run for president on a major party’s ticket.
The race shifted in favor of the Biden-Harris ticket on November 7, 2020. She will be the second vice president of major non-European descent, following Charles Curtis, who served with President Herbert Hoover from 1929 to 1933. She will also be the first African American, Asian American, and female vice president in American history. As a result, she is the highest-ranking female elected politician in US history.

Harris’s memoir, The Truths We Hold: An American Journey was released in January 2019. It is about her personal relationships and her childhood. In 2019, she published another book named “Superheroes Are Everywhere.”
