Her father, Monty Hall, was a well-known Canadian-American game show host, producer, and philanthropist best known for his tenure as host of Let’s Make a Deal and the “Monty Hall problem,” a very challenging probability conundrum.
The same can be said for her mother, Canadian theatre and television producer Marilyn Hall. Sadly, on June 5, 2017, Marilyn passed away. (maybach.com) Monty, Joanna’s father, too passed away from heart failure on September 30th, a few months later.
Sharon Hall, a television writer, and the director is Joanna’s sister, and Richard Hall is her brother.

Joanna Gleason began her acting career on television, but her stage and musical theater roles have garnered her more recognition. Her extravagant stage persona helped her secure higher-profile jobs in movies and TV series. Hannah and Her Sisters (1986) and Crimes and Misdemeanors, in which she played supporting roles, both featured her (1989).
She continued to be cynical in subsequent sitcoms, including Love & War, The Practice, The West Wing, and King of the Hill, for which she provided the voice.
Then, she made appearances in the films Let the Devil Wear Black, Mr. Holland’s Opus, Boogie Nights, Edie & Pen, American Perfekt, Road Ends, Boogie Nights, and The Wedding Planner.

Chris Sarandon, an actor who received a nomination for an Academy Award for his performance as “Leon Shermer” in the American crime thriller Dog Day Afternoon, is the spouse of Joanna Gleason.
The couple originally met in 1991 while filming “Nick and Nora,” Broadway’s adaptation of the Thin Man. They later were married on July 22, 1994. They collaborated on a number of other projects as well.
Aaron David Gleason, alias Gilly Leads, from Joanna’s first marriage to Paul Gleason, as well as Stephanie, Alexis, and Michael from Chris’s second marriage to Lisa Ann Cooper, now live with Joanna and Chris.
Joanna, who has been divorced twice, was previously married to Michael Bennahum and Paul Gleason (1975–1982).
