Joakim Simon Noah was born in New York City to a sporting family.
His mother, Cécilia Rodhe, was Miss Sweden in 1978 and became fourth runner-up in Miss Universe.
His father was a former world no. 3 tennis player Yannick Noah, 1983 French Open winner, and singer.
Moving on, his grandfather, Zacharie Noah, was a Cameroonian professional football player who won the Coupe de France in 1961.

College Life
In 2004, Noach accepted an athletic scholarship from the University of Florida and began his college basketball career with the Florida Gators.
He was a Gator under coach Billy Donovan.
Noah averaged 3.5 points and 2.5 rebounds per game in his first season as a freshman, playing 9.4 minutes per game.
He did not have a good start to his career, but Noah took over for Al Horford during his sophomore season and immediately made an impact. Per game, he averaged 14.2 points and 2.4 blocks.
Jo’s form continued to improve, and by the end of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament, he had declared for the NBA draft in 2006.
