Jim Wahlberg was born James M. Wahlberg on August 19, 1965, in the underprivileged neighborhood of Dorchester, Massachusetts, in the United States.
Alma Elaine (née Donnelly), his mother, gave birth to nine children, with him being the fifth oldest. His mother’s heritage includes 11/16ths Irish, 1/8 French-Canadian, 1/8 English, and 1/16th Scottish. His mother worked as a bank clerk and a nurse’s assistant. From 2014 until 2019, she also made an appearance in the reality series Wahlburgers on A&E.
His mother married Donald Edward Wahlberg Sr., who is of half-Swedish and half-Irish ancestry, for the third time when he was still a little child. His stepfather had participated in both the Korean War and the US Army.
But in 1982, when he was seventeen years old, his mother filed for divorce from his stepfather, Donald, and in 1984, she wed Mark Conroy for the fourth time.
Donald, his stepfather, passed away on February 14, 2008.
Jim Wahlberg has eight siblings, including Mark Wahlberg, Donnie Wahlberg, Debbie Wahlberg, Paul Wahlberg, Tracey Wahlberg, and Arthur Wahlberg. His mother’s third marriage to Donald Edward Wahlberg Sr. produced three children: Robert, Donnie, and Mark.
His sister Debbie died of a heart attack on September 2, 2003, leaving a teenage son in her wake.
