The person on television Jessie Holmes gained notoriety after participating in the National Geographic Channel documentary series Life Below Zero. He is primarily a fisherman, carpenter, hunter, and dogsled racer (2013-2020).

With his 40 sleddogs, the intrepid Jessie currently resides in Nenana, Alaska.

Jessie Holmes was born in Alabama, in the United States, on February 21, 1982.

He left Alabama when he was 18 in order to visit Alaska. He ultimately settled in Montana, where he spent three years working as a carpenter. Later, in 2004, he traveled to Alaska in search of excitement. He eventually discovered it when leading dogs on a secret trap line along the Yukon River.

Jessie participated in a variety of races, both sprint, and distance because he loved the dogs and the wilderness. He achieved this by winning the Kobuk 440 in 2017 and finishing seventh in the Iditarod in 2018. (an annual long-distance sled dog race competition). In that Iditarod in 2018, he was also recognized with the “Rookie of the Year” award.

Jessie enjoys running ultramarathons, going hunting, and fishing, to name a few of his pastimes.

Builds New Cabin

Jessie Holmes changed his focus to building a new cottage for himself and his 40 sleddogs after placing seventh in the Iditarod in 2018.

He lived in a house that was more than 40 years old at the time in 2018. He spent his 2018 summer creating a new cottage for himself and his racing pups in an effort to create a safer environment.

On the National Geographic program, he stated, “What I did was I was a carpenter before I arrived in Nenana. He went on to say,

“I built a lot of nice houses for a lot of people with a lot of money. My goal is to build myself as nice of a cabin as I built for those people. I deserve that and I want to up my living conditions to where I can feel at peace in my house.”

Jessie and his puppies will already be residing in their new cabin/home as of the year 2020.

Cast In Life Below Zero

Life Below Zero, which debuted on the National Geographic Channel in 2013, has Jessie Holmes as a regular cast member.

The program provides a record of the regular and seasonal activities of subsistence hunters, showcasing their way of life in outlying regions of Alaska.

In addition to Jessie, the cast of the twice-award-winning “Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards” presentation includes survivors and adept hunters including Sue Aikens, Chip and Agnes Hailstone, Glenn Villeneuve, Andy Bassich, Erik Salitan, and Ricko DeWilde.
