Isabella Boylston, an American ballet dancer, is a Principal Dancer at the esteemed American Ballet Theatre (ABT).

She first attended the Boulder Ballet for her dance studies before moving on to the Academy of Colorado Ballet. She later received the Ruger Dance scholarship at the age of fifteen, and in 2002, she started her training at the Harid Conservatory in Boca Raton, Florida. She additionally attended the Boston Ballet School during the summer months.

Career & Her Works

Isabella Boylston started dancing when she was three years old. She joined the American Ballet Theatre (ABT) Studio Company in 2005 after completing her training at a number of renowned institutes. She received an invitation to join American Ballet Theatre (ABT) in 2007 after being noticed at the ABT summer intensive.

She was then elevated to soloist in 2011 and to principal dancer, the highest position, in 2014. She appeared as Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, Giselle’s title character, Odette/Odile in Swan Lake, Gamzatti in La Bayadere, and the Ballerina in The Bright Stream during her tenure at the ABT.

Along with those roles, Isabella has also performed as Kitri in Don Quixote, Aurora in The Sleeping Beauty, Sylvia’s title character, Firebird’s lead character, and the Theme and Variations. She has also performed a number of original main roles in pieces by Alexei Ratmansky, Christopher Wheeldon, and Benjamin Millepied.

In addition, she co-wrote, co-directed, and starred in the TriBeCa premiere of the movie Early Sunday Morning. In the film Red Sparrow, she also played Jennifer Lawrence’s dance partner.

In addition to her dancing profession, Isabella is involved with the National Dance Institute, a nonprofit organization that partners with public schools to provide free dance lessons to children in impoverished areas.
