Career

Despite being predicted to go in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Melifonwu was chosen by the Detroit Lions in the third round. Similar to his brother, Obi Melifonwu was chosen by the Oakland Raiders in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft less than four years after his brother.

The Grafton native returned to college after missing two years due to a hamstring injury, starting each game for the Syracuse Orange (2019-2020 season). He worked out with Yo Murphy in Tampa, Florida, where Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith trained, for the majority of his pre-draft preparation.

Melifonwu completed his three college football seasons with 88 tackles, five for loss, one sack, 19 passes defended, and 23 passes broken. He also had three interceptions during that time. He had 55 tackles, three for loss, ten pass breakups, and an interception prior to the 2021 season.

For Grafton Memorial Senior High School in Massachusetts, he participated in football. His superior cornerback or safety abilities are a result of his stature, strength, athleticism, and skill set.

Net Worth 2023

Despite the fact that Melifonwu is set to leave on his fantasy vacation, it is unknown how much money he is worth. While some might object that he could not have made that much money while in college, numerous studies have shown that athletes do get paid.

Five-star athletes make an estimated $650,000 annually on average while attending college. After taking into account all of the victories and bowl appearances that Melifonwu and other players bring to their teams, experts came to this conclusion.

His new contract with the Detroit Lions, assuming the typical third-round selection bonus, could be worth about $1 million if the team formally signs him.

Relationship Status

The 6-foot-2 cornerbacks don’t seem to care about romance. The 22-year-old NFL rookie has thus reportedly not been active on his social media platforms when it comes to dating.

The punishing tackler has been open with his followers about both his personal and professional lives, and he doesn’t seem to be involved in any extramarital affairs. It’s unlikely that he’s dating someone as he now looks to be single.
