If you frequently watch Discovery Channel, then you’ve probably seen the reality series The Last Alaskans, which depicts the lives of residents in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
Heimo Korth and his wife Edna, the only occupants of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, are among the few still living on the last unexplored land in America. The Korths family has been leading a life in the Alaskan wilderness that most of us could only dream of for the past three decades.
Heimo Korth Married, Wife
Few of the strong people who attempted to make a livelihood in the Alaskan forest were as successful as Heimo Korth.
Heimo, a native of Wisconsin, quit his job as a welder and moved to the Arctic wilderness in his twenties to live like a mountain man. Currently, Heimo resides 400 miles away from civilization with his wife and two daughters.
He met his wife Edna, a Yupik Eskimo, on St. Lawrence Island while gushing about his family. After some time, Heimo and Edna developed feelings for one another and wed three decades earlier.
Edna, Heimo’s wife, is just as daring as her husband and is often seen boating and killing fish in the gorges to support their existence. Edna is a powerful woman who enjoys living among the animals, attempting to kill grizzly bears, and staying in igloos. They are undoubtedly a remarkable couple!
On May 29, 1982, the couple welcomed Coleen Ann Korth, a daughter, into the world. Their daughter was given the name Coleen River by them. She was tragically killed in 1984 when she was just two years old. She had a river accident and drowned.
After Coleen, Edna gave birth to Rhonda and Krin, two further daughters. Krin, their youngest child, is a firefighter who wed Scott, a Marine.
With her husband, Krin already has two children, but in December 2018, she made known that the family would be expanding. The adventurous family of Heimo and his family are overjoyed to welcome their new grandchild!
Edna has a daughter named Melinda with a mysterious man she was married to before Heimo. Melinda and her husband Don had three children together.
Currently, Heimo and Edna enjoy their life in the forest, where they face hardships as a family.
