Margo Dydek was born on April 28, 1974, in Warsaw, Poland, to parents who were both over 6 feet tall. Katarzyna and Marta, Dydek’s sisters, Katarzyna, her older sister, played for the Colorado Xplosion, while Marta, her younger sister, played professionally in Spain.
Margo, like her older sister Kashka, began playing basketball in a local club named “Huragan” in Wolomin, Poland. She then went on to play for the Poznan Olympia squad, as well as other Polish and French teams before moving to the United States.

The Utah Starzz selected Margo Dydek first overall in the 1998 WNBA Draft. The team was relocated to San Antonio and renamed the Silver Stars. Dydek was transferred to the Connecticut Sun on April 16, 2005, in exchange for Katie Feenstra.
Dydek left the Connecticut Sun to sign with the Los Angeles Sparks, where Zheng Haixia previously played.
