If you’re obsessed with golf, you’ve probably heard of Eilidh Harbour, a golf broadcaster. She is the BBC’s spokesperson for the sport of golf.
Eilidh Barbour was encouraged to play outdoor games rather than watch TV growing up in Scotland’s rural highlands. Only five girls and 27 boys made up her primary class. She thus socialized and participated in athletic activities with the lads.
She joined the football team on behalf of The Royal School of Dunkeld. She continued to play football with the Partick Thistle women’s squad in 2017.
Her childhood aim was to pursue a career in sports. Eilidh was aware that she lacked the aptitude to pursue a career in sports, though. She then made the decision to pursue a career in sports journalism.
Curiously, when she was just 14 years old, she watched the BBC Golf commentator Hazel Irvine on TV. She even wrote to Hazel asking for professional advice after being deeply inspired by Hazel. Hazel urged Eilidh to be steadfast and laser-focused in order to do this.
She attained her goals by following the directions of her enthusiasm. She covered matches for Football Focus, Final Score, the Euro 2016 competition, and FA Cup matches as a reporter.
She has been delivering sports news on BBC News Channel since September 2014. Also, she launched a campaign to support and encourage more women to play golf.
She took over for her role model Hazel Irvine as the new face of golf for BBC on July 17, 2017. At that time, she has been collaborating with Peter Alliss, a sports historian. She is currently advancing in her career thanks to her ability to work well with a coworker.

Along with her father, Eilidh’s mother also enriched her love of athletics. Her mother didn’t play golf professionally. Yet, she did it for the benefit of her daughter.
Even now, Eilidh chooses to play golf with her mother instead of going shopping to spend quality time together. They foster their bonding via mutual support for one another.
