Dodie talked openly about her first romance in one of her videos. Her video claims that she first fell in love with a 22-year-old man when she was just 17 years old. But because he was so abusive, her first relationship ended up being a nightmare for her. Just a few weeks after they started dating, her boyfriend began abusing her.
She received a verbal scolding for not placing the bowl properly. She was able to date him for two years, though, before one of her friends forced her to break it off.

When YouTube sensation Dodie revealed her sexual orientation in 2016, her fans were shocked. She stated that she was equally interested in men and women in a video that was uploaded to her YouTube channel on May 23, 2016. She further stressed that, although having kissed women in the past, she is bisexual and not lesbian.
