Who is Daiya Seto?

If there is one word to describe Daiya Seto, it would be versatile. Seto is a short and long course world champion in butterfly, breaststroke, individual medley, and freestyle.

His specialty, however, is individual medley and butterfly.

Daiya means diamond in Japanese. Japanese Swimmer has repeatedly demonstrated that he is as bright as a diamond in the pool.

As a result, he has twice won the prestigious Asian male swimmer of the year award.

Daiya was born in Moroyama, Saitama, Japan on May 24, 1994. There is little information available about his parents and siblings.

Similarly, he began swimming at the tender age of five. In elementary school, he began competing in national swimming competitions.

He learned both football and swimming as a child. Swimming, however, became more appealing to him and he began to pursue it full-time.

Kosuke Hagino, a well-known swimmer, had been his rival since they were children. For childhood friends, the world rival is not an arch-nemesis, but rather comrades fighting for a common goal.

In elementary school, the comrades first met at a summer national tournament. Hagino, who was widely regarded as a “genius swimmer,” was defeated in the competition.
