Even though she only learned about it two days before Christmas, she took her time spreading the tragic news. In a blog article for CityNews, Mulligan detailed her experience battling her first case of cancer.

After finishing the first phase of treatment, she underwent surgery after bravely enduring several chemotherapy sessions. She then underwent radiation therapy daily for the following six weeks.

“At the moment, I feel as though I am in an illusion. You see, the wig hides everything, and now that I have false eyelashes on, I can paint on my eyebrows. I look like a cancer patient when I get up in the morning and look in the mirror,” she remarked.

Although she handled everything with strength, she was actually afraid. Fortunately, the procedure was successful, and she eventually regained her health. She described how going through cancer transformed her outlook on life and made her appreciate what she had in the tear-jerking blog.

But the horror struck her once more, eleven years later. Since February, she has been undergoing chemotherapy once more, and according to what she tweeted,

Although the side effects are difficult, it is worthwhile. I underwent a CT scan, and the therapy is effective! Don’t rule me out because the cancer is not growing and has really decreased by 30%.

She also expressed her gratitude to all the front-line healthcare professionals who had supported her throughout this trying ordeal.

She also declared that she will take a summer sabbatical to look after herself and spend more time with her family. In the end, she said goodbye to the audience on January 31 before pausing her professional career for a bit and making the vow to return in the fall, stronger than before.
