Playing ‘Edgar Allan Poe’ In Altered Carbon
The artificial intelligence “Edgar Poe,” played by Chris Conner, is based on American author, editor, and literary critic Edgar Allan Poe. Edgar used to be the original proprietor of The Raven Hotel.
Takeshi Kovacs, a former soldier turned investigator, checks into Edgar’s hotel for the first time in fifty years as the plot develops. Takeshi views the hotel as his center of operations in Bay City since he needs to solve a murder.
The most moving sequence in the entire show, among all the excellent narrative and well-written scenes, was the one involving Chris’s character, Edgar, and his passing. He declared, “My death scene is my favorite,” on February 15, 2018, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, where he also discussed the labor-intensive process of giving this artificial creature a breathtaking level of life.
Chris’s character unexpectedly and heartbreakingly dies in the season’s last episode.
