At the age of 16, Mary Cathleen Collins started her acting career in 1973. She began dating her director John Derek, who was 30 years older than her, at the same time. John Derek later became her husband and helped guide her acting career.
Her debut feature was the John Derek-directed English love drama “Fantasies.” The movie, which was filmed in Greece, showcased Cathleen’s attractive appearance in edgy attire and nude scenes. Long-running controversy prevented the movie from being released until 1981, although by that time, Cathleen and John Derek’s wife, Bo Derek, had already achieved success as actors.

Soon following her 18th birthday, the couple returned to the US and got married on 10 June 1976. Cathleen took on the name – Bo Derek and the couple remained married for 22 years till John’s death in 1998.
A few years following his death, Bo became involved with actor John Corbett.
