Following his selection, he was allowed to play with the Dallas Mavericks alongside Jared Cunningham, the 24th overall pick, and Jae Crowder, the 34th overall pick.
He signed with the Dallas Mavericks in 2012, and he was fired later that year, but he quickly resigned.
Bernard officially began his career with the Mavericks before being released in 2014.
