Antonina Shevchenko: Early Life, Age, Wiki, Parents, Ethnicity

Elena Shevchenko, Antonina’s mother, and an unidentified father gave birth to her.

She is a native of the Soviet Union’s Frunze, Kirghiz SSR. Shevchenko began her taekwondo and Muay Thai training when she was five years old.

The explanation is that Elena, who also holds a black belt in taekwondo, served as president of the Muay Thai association.

As a result, Antonina and Valentina, her younger sister, began training for the two sports very early in their lives.

Growing up, Antonina Shevchenko had a significant part in Valentina Shevchenko’s development as the current UFC Strawweight Champion. Antonina Shevchenko with her mother and sister. In an interview, the younger sister once stated,

She was the top female in the competition when I was quite young. She was the top. She was an inspiration to me and the other girls my age who had started training because we wanted to be just like her.

We can therefore see from this comment how talented a fighter Antonina was even as a little child.

The Shevchenko sisters may be the most talented siblings to ever represent a significant MMA organization.

However, there aren’t many specifics available about her school history. It appears that the entire family was interested in MMA and physical prowess.

Education, Schooling, University

There is no information about his education and schooling.

Professional Career, (Mixed Martial Arts)

In 2002, Shevchenko made her MMA debut and accumulated a 3-0 record. Antonina, however, took a 12-year hiatus from the MMA scene to concentrate on her kickboxing career.

In her 40 bouts during that 12-year break, Antonina racked up an astounding record of 19 victories and one defeat.

After dominating the muay Thai circuit, the fighter from Kyrgyzstan decided to return to MMA in 2017.

Shevchenko then amassed a 7-1 record before receiving a call-up from the top MMA league, the UFC, in 2018.

The muay Thai world champion consequently participated in Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, where winners were eligible to sign with the UFC.

On June 26, 2018, Antonina was supposed to compete against Silvana Juarez. Unfortunately, Juarez was forced to leave the game due to an undisclosed injury, and Jaimelene Nievera took her place.

Road to UFC: Antonina Shevchenko

The Krygstan-born fighter did not, however, stray from her ultimate objective of winning the UFC championship.

So, with the mindset of a champion, Shevchenko easily prevailed by way of a TKO in the second round. As a result, Antonina was offered a contract by the UFC.

After that, she was supposed to make her UFC debut against Ashlee Evans-Smith. Sadly, a training-related injury forced Ashlee to withdraw from the battle.

Ji Yeon Kim was consequently brought in to take the place of the injured fighter. Yeon Kim, however, missed the weight target by more than 4.5 lbs, which sparked further controversy.

Ji was penalized 20% of her fight payout, which went to Antonina. Nevertheless, the fight took place at catchweight, and Shevchenko prevailed by unanimous decision.

The Krygyzstan beauty believed that at that point, her dreams of succeeding her sister, Valentina, as a champion in the UFC could finally come true.

In contrast, Antonina’s subsequent fight brought her back to reality. As an example, on April 20, 2019, Shevchenko competed against Roxanne Modafferi, and many gambled on the overwhelming favorite Antonina.

She was unfortunate to lose the fight by a split decision after a close contest.

But the 5′ 8″ bantamweight, being the lion-hearted warrior that she is, got back up and defeated Lucie Pudliova in her subsequent fight.

She beat Lucie and won the Fight of the Night bonus, making it by far her best performance in the UFC.

On April 25, 2020, Antonina will square off against Cynthia Calvillo at UFC Fight Night 173.

However, the battle may very probably be postponed to a later time due to the global Corona Virus (COVID-19) epidemic.

Ariane Lipski vs. Antonina Shevchenko

At UFC 255 on November 21, 2020, Antonina dominated Ariane Lipski.

Shevchenko corrected the errors she made that cost her the victory in the previous match against Katlyn Chookagian.

She continued to throw punches, though, and the referee had to stop the fight.

Despite being known for her devastating strikes, Antonina prevailed through skillful grappling. In the second round, the game was over at only 4:33.

Following the contest, Antonina expressed her feelings. She stated:

I’m extremely happy because I wanted to win today. I PRACTICED SO DEEPLY. I simply NEEDED THIS WIN.

She did, after all. This victory helped Antonina improve her UFC record to 3-2 overall while also sending a clear message to her sister.

The two sisters compete on the same UFC card, and there is immense pressure.

OF COURSE, I HAD THIS PRESSURE. BECAUSE A PERFECT PERFORMANCE WOULD BE IF TWO SISTERS WIN, IT’S THE PRESSURE THAT MOTIVATES YOU.

Unfortunately, as we all know, women employees are paid less when compared to their male counterparts.

Thus, Shevchenko’s net worth might seem a bit low. However, during her most recent fight, she bagged $93,500, which included $20,000 to show, a $20,000 win bonus, and a $3,500 fight week incentive pay.

But, her biggest bonus came from the Performance of the Night award, which pocketed her a whopping $50,000.

Net Worth, Salary, Assets

Antonina’s kickboxing and mixed martial arts careers have mostly contributed to her $200,000 net worth as of 2022. Additionally, she has made USD 171,000 in her career.

Sadly, as we all know, women workers receive lower pay than their male colleagues.

So Shevchenkos’ net worth may appear to be a little modest. However, she earned $93,500 during her most recent fight, which includes $20,000 to show, a $20,000 win bonus, and a $3,500 incentive payment for the fight week.

Her biggest reward, though, was the $50,000 Performance of the Night prize, which she received.

We would like to conclude by pleading with the UFC and all other businesses to pay male and female employees equally.

We think Antonina’s net worth will rise significantly with further fights because she has only competed twice in the UFC.

Rumors and Controversy

Talking about his rumors and controversy, he has not been in any part of rumors as well as controversy to date.

What is the Height of Antonina Shevchenko? Weight, Full Body Status

In terms of Shevchenkos’ age, she was born in 1984, making her currently 37 years old.

On the other hand, UFC fighters typically hit their peak around their mid-30s, even though it might seem a little old for an athlete. As a result, we think Antonina’s prime is still ahead of her.

Similar to this, Antonina is a Scorpio by birth. These traits—tenacity, intensity, and zeal—are well renowned for them.

Shevchenko’s physique is ideal for a women’s bantamweight competitor because she is 135 lbs. and 5 feet 8 inches tall.

And after three UFC fights, Shevchenko will be eligible for a title shot if she keeps up her strong performance.

Antonina also has light brown hair and bright brown eyes that beautifully complement each other.
