Lawsuit

Accusing Amar Ramasar and the other two male dancers of distributing sexually graphic images of her and another female dancer without their permission, Alexandra Waterbury filed a lawsuit against them in September 2018.

The lawsuit claims that Alexa accused her ex-boyfriend Chase Finley of sending Amar sexually graphic pictures of her and that Amar then sent Chase a picture of his girlfriend Alexa Maxwell.

In September 2018, the New York City Ballet fired Amar and all the accused males. But after an arbitration from the American Guild of Musical Artists, he was reinstated in April 2019.

This case gained national attention and was primarily followed online. Amar was a cast member of West Side Story when protesters gathered outside the Broadway Theatre on January 31, 2020. He was to be fired, according to the protesters.

Amar’s girlfriend, Alexa, told the New York Times that he had apologized for the incident and that she had accepted his forgiveness. She stated:

“I am not a victim in this, He apologized time and time again, and I think that it’s my choice as a woman to forgive him.”
