Reporter Alexis Zotos of KMOV tells the touching tale of how she met Matthew Drobak, her husband. The couple attended the same high school and grew up in the same city, but it wasn’t until they met on the dating app Tinder that they fell in love and got married in August 2019.
Destined To Be Together
Alexis Zotos and Matthew are two of the many happy accidents that resulted from Tinder encounters. But prior to Tinder, the two had a relationship in certain respects.
They had run into each other countless times while growing up in University City, Philadelphia, which is the same city as they are now. They never had the opportunity to notice one another, although attending Laude High School together.
But destiny conspired to bring them together. In 2015, while Zotos was waiting for a friend at the Earthbound Brewery on Cherokee Street, she struck up a conversation with a “cute bartender,” who turned out to be none other than Matthew.
They started discussing urban spelunking before realizing they had previously met paths. The brief exchange, however, came to an end when Zotos’ companion showed up, and the two parted company.
The two last saw one other in December of 2019. They scheduled their date in the Central West End directly through Tinder. They discovered they had previously met several times only a few minutes into the date. When Zotos learned that Matthew worked at Clayco as a project manager rather than a bartender, he was taken aback. And that that day in the pub, he was merely assisting a pal.
Since their first date, Zotos have known they have a particular connection. They dated for three years before deciding to get married in 2019.
She attributes this trip to a right swipe on Tinder, which led her to the perfect person with whom to spend the rest of her life.
Alexis Zotos Weds Matthew Drobak
The couple couldn’t wait any longer to become husband and wife after three wonderful years of dating. To surprise Zotos with an engagement ring, Matthew took action. He had secretly planned to propose to her during their date at the Jewel Box in Forest Park after deciding to make things official.
But an unforeseen downpour derailed his strategy. They traveled to the Four Seasons as scheduled later that evening, where he proposed to her by popping up a ring. When Zotos narrated the circumstance,
We were about to go to the hotel spa when Matt took out the ring and asked me to marry him in the room. I hadn’t expected to be surprised when he proposed, but I was caught completely off guard! That made the moment even more special.
She shared her wedding planning on Instagram on February 15, 2019. Her wedding took place as scheduled in August 2019 in Forest Park, with their friend officiating, and the reception was hosted at Wild Carrot on Shaw Boulevard.
Additionally, the newlyweds spent their honeymoon in Bali before settling in the Shaw district of St. Louis.
The good news is that Zotos, who is 33 years old, is expecting a child. According to an Instagram post she made on June 1 showing gorgeous photos of her and her spouse when she was still pregnant,
Our due date is in less than three weeks… Being planners, Matt and I both find the uncertainty to be the most stressful aspect of the future weeks. Will he arrive over the weekend or wait until his due date?
The infant has not yet come, though. The couple is eagerly anticipating the birth of their child and starting the exciting journey that is parenthood.
