Jake Paul, a YouTube celebrity and social media influencer who became a professional boxer, kept his spotless 3-0 record and improved it to 4-0 in his brief fighting career. In past fights, he has defeated YouTuber AnEsonGib, former NBA player Nate Robinson, and Ben Askren.
Tyron Woodley, on the other hand, was a very different opponent than Jake Paul past opponents. Woodley defended his Welterweight Champion title four times in his UFC career and has multiple highlight-reel knockouts on his MMA resume.
Tyron Woodley vs. Jake Paul
The fight between Woodley and Paul had been months in the planning, and the two eventually met on August 29. Paul received a few heavy shots but survived and dominated the fight for the most part. The influencer turned prizefighter won a split decision over the MMA Champion (77-75, 75-77, 78-74).
Paul said after the fight that facing Woodley was more difficult than he had anticipated. This was a far more difficult battle than I had anticipated. He put up a solid fight and improved his fitness. I admire him and have nothing but admiration for him. There was a lot of [expletive] thrown around, but I apologize if I upset his group.

During Paul’s fight with Askren, the two developed a feud. Askren had Woodley on his side against Paul, but Paul insulted him by asking if he was there for clout instead. Woodley, a decorated fighter, took offense. The evening of the fight, in the room where Paul was getting his hands bandaged, a heated disagreement occurred between Woodley and Paul’s entourage.
Request For The Rematch
The post-fight interview took place in front of a sold-out crowd at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, where Jake grew up. When the fighters met face to face, they agreed to a rematch. Woodley was dissatisfied with the outcome, claiming he should have won the fight due to the judge’s judgment.
