The TikTok star’s quick rise to internet fame has earned her a lot of success. It hasn’t always been easy for her, since she has had to deal with a lot of hatred as a result of her celebrity.
Back in 2020, Addison Rae was extremely loud about people criticizing her weight. She shared that she was using the negative comments about her physique and weight as motivation to improve herself.
Today, I’ve seen approximately 5-10 tweets and tiktoks criticizing my body and weight. It makes me feel insecure, but I’m looking at it from a different perspective now. To become the healthiest version of myself, I’ve been incredibly driven to start eating healthier and working out every day!
Rae later confessed in a follow-up tweet that being labeled “a whale” and having others say things like “she’s obese now” affected her. However, she used the occasion to inspire everyone who had gone through a similar ordeal to embrace themselves.
It saddens me to hear people on my fyp call me “a whale” and say “she’s big now,” and I just want to encourage everyone who hears these comments to accept themselves!! Do not heed to these cruel statements if you are healthy and joyful. You are flawless.
She went on to say that no one was perfect and that there was no reason to listen to negative comments about one’s appearance or weight. “Do not heed to these harsh statements if you are healthy and joyful. “You are flawless.”
Addison Rae on Body Image and Weight
Apart from the aforementioned tweets, Rae has also been open about her weight and body image struggles in an interview with Glamour Magazine. The most upsetting comments, according to the TikToker, were about her body image.
When you’re a girl, especially when you’re in your teens, it’s quite difficult to deal with. My body is continuously changing as I get older, but people have such a high expectation for body image.

Rae discussed one of the most crucial lessons she learned after being famous: comparing yourself to others makes you sad. She also stated that she had been learning to accept herself and her body for who they were. Rae had been suffering with her self-worth before she learned to love herself. Since she was a child, the TikTok celebrity has been a victim of comparison culture, which has made her feel bad about herself.
When she began going to treatment, things began to change for the better. It aided her in improving her self-esteem and feeling good about herself. She claims it also served as an opportunity for her to express herself about issues she was dealing with internally.
