Career
Jake T. Austin began his acting career in commercials in 2002. But it was in the iconic Nickelodeon animated series Dora the Explorer, where he portrayed the well-known character Diego, that he got his big break. Later, in another Nickelodeon effort named Go, Diego, Go, the actor supplied his voice to Diego once more.
Jake T. Austin was cast as Max Russo in Disney’s Wizards of Waverly Place in 2007, where he worked with well-known actress and pop icon Selena Gomez for four years.
Austin won the Hollywood Teen TV Awards in the Favorite Television Actor category in 2012 for his role on the show. He later appeared in the Hannah Montana TV series.
Austin’s big break came in 2011 when he portrayed Fernando in the critically acclaimed film Rio, a 20th Century Fox production. Later, he was hired to work on Rio 2. In 2013, the actor was cast in the ABC drama series The Fosters as Jesus Foster. His performance on the show was praised, and as a result, the show and the character’s name have become synonymous with his personality.
Austin was named as a contestant on season 23 of the celebrity dance reality show Dancing with the Stars on August 30, 2016. Austin and his dance partner Jenna Johnson, on the other hand, were the first to be eliminated.
