The Expendables was a great smash, with its formula of teaming some of the most popular action heroes of the past with worldwide martial arts stars and sportsmen capturing the interest of moviegoers.
Due to its success, two sequels were released in 2012 and 2014, respectively. For quite some time, there had been speculation about a fourth movie for The Expendables. However, until recently, it had never truly taken off.
Lionsgate and Millennium Media are finally bringing a new film to the much-loved action genre, seven years after The Expendables 3. All previous films of the franchise starred Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, and Sylvester Stallone, who will reprise their roles in The Expendables 4.

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Megan Fox, and Tony Jaa will join the original cast in new roles for the sequel. It will be directed by Scott Waugh, who previously directed Need for Speed (2014) and 6 Below: Miracle on the Mountain (2017).
Unlike the previous three movies, in which Stallone was the main character, the fourth chapter will feature Statham as the protagonist. The female lead will be played by Fox. Statham is producing the film alongside Kevin King Templeton and Millennium’s Les Weldon, Yariv Lerner, Jeffrey Greenstein, and Jonathan Yunger, in addition to starring in it.
‘The Expendables’ and the legendary Sly Stallone
Stallone is regarded as one of the twentieth century’s most successful action stars. He appeared in films such as Rocky (1976), First Blood (1982), and Cliffhanger (1986). (1993). However, as CGI became more advanced, movies began to prefer visual effects over practical stunts and action sequences.
In 2010, Stallone assembled an all-star group of action performers to make a film that was more reminiscent of traditional action films. He also enlisted the help of non-actors to help him adjust to the burgeoning film industry. During a 2010 interview with Movie Maniacs, the Rocky star discussed how he decided to cast UFC fighter, Randy Couture, in the film.
Even if we wish it were, it is no longer simply about Hollywood. It isn’t… You can become a world-famous celebrity… In truth, the majority of the world’s most famous people are no longer actors. So I decided to go into the UFC and recruit the UFC’s version of their fighting god, Randy Couture.
Stallone not only starred in but also wrote and directed The Expendables. More than just action was provided by the great performers. Terry Crews, for example, provided both humorous relief and kick-ass moments. The action-packed film brought back many old action heroes, reminding audiences that the traditional action film formula still works in today’s world. It was a huge hit, and the two sequels saw Barney Ross’ (Stallone) team of highly trained mercenaries, known as the Expendables, take on a variety of foes.
Stallone’s character was accompanied by Lee Christmas (Statham), Gunner Jensen (Lundgren), and Toll Road throughout all three films (Couture).
