Inception
Ilkka Paananen, Mikko Kodisoja, Niko Derome, Visa Forsten, Lassi Leppinen, and Petri Styrman founded Supercell in 2010. Mikko co-founded the mobile game company Sumea in 1999, and Ikka had previously served as its CEO.
The company began operations in the Finnish city of Espoo. Ikka and Mikko contributed a total of 250,000 euros to the company. Supercell’s first game, Gunshine.net, was released as a browser-based game.
The following year, in 2012, it ceased operations. Supercell released its second game, “Pets vs Orcs,” in 2012, which was also the company’s first mobile game.
The aforementioned game was only available for a few months for download. It released the game “Battle Buddies” in several countries the same year, but it was discontinued only a few months later.
