Seiji Amasawa, a violinist at the same school as Shizuku Tsukishima, is a character from Whisper of the Heart. He is a 14 to 15-year-old boy with a wide range of abilities.
He spends his time in the workshop beneath his grandfather’s antique shop, where he teaches violin-making classes.
Seiji is a student at the same school as Shizuku Tsukishima, but they are in different classes. Seiji was voiced by David Gallagher in the English version and Issei Takahashi in the Japanese version.

The Japanese voice actor, Issei Takahashi contributed his voice to Seiji Amasawa in Whisper of the Heart whereas David Gallagher has voiced the English version of this character.
Personality
Seiji is a self-assured young man who has loved Shizuku for the majority of their school years. Shizuku initially perceives him as rude, calling him a “stupid jerk” which she repeats several times; however, as the film progresses, we see that he is a very sensitive and loving person, and his affection for Shizuku becomes very apparent, especially near the end.
He is extremely motivated, wishing to travel to Italy on his own to perfect the art of violin making and willing to leave everything behind, demonstrating both his confidence and abilities.
Appearance
Seiji has white skin and short dark hair. His brows are brown, and his eyes are dark, matching his hair’s black/brown color. His chin ends in a point, and his face is long and wide with a wide forehead.
Relationships
Unlike his parents, Seiji has a close relationship with his grandfather, who owns the antique shop and is supportive of his dream of making violins.
He also develops a close relationship with Shizuku, telling her at the end that he loves her and sees them marrying.
Because the film is told from Shizuku’s perspective, these are the only two Seiji-related relationships that are properly explored. Because he is in a different class than her, we don’t know who his friends are.
