Scott Porter has made it his mission to help The Huntington’s Disease Society of America combat Huntington’s Disease. The Ginny & Georgia star revealed the personal motivation for his fight.
His mother-in-law was diagnosed with Huntington’s disease shortly after he married Kelsey Mayfield. His wife later tested positive for the same gene that causes brain illness. This indicates that in the future, she will have melancholy, mood swings, memory lapses, and involuntary movements.
“I hope that one day I won’t have to sit down with my children and completely explain what’s going on with their mother.” That’s why we’re battling so hard right now,” the actor explained.
Porter got together with the cast of Ginny & Georgia for a reunion to raise money for the disease. He mentioned that everyone agreed immediately away and that he was looking forward to meeting everyone.
The actor revealed that they planned to talk about season 1, interact with fans, and raise money for a good cause all at the same time. Scott Porter and His Wife Mayfield and Porter met on the set of the NBC football program Friday Night Lights in 2008.
While his wife was a cheerleader at the University of Texas at Austin, the Ginny and Georgia star played an injured high-school football player, Jason Street. They started dating gradually, and Porter stated their first date was “sushi and a movie.”
The pair married in 2013 at Camp Lucy in Dripping Springs, Texas, after four years of dating and more than a year of engagement. Porter said they wanted to “be married under a Texas sky, and it’s going to be a kind of rustic chic wedding” before the ceremony.
He and his wife chose Austin as the location for their wedding because it is where their love story began. In front of 140 friends and family members, the pair exchanged vows. They told Us Weekly at the time that they hoped to wait a few years before starting a family.
“Right now, we’re not talking about kids.” “We’re both very family-oriented and would love to have children in the future, but not right now,” the actor stated.
In May 2015, the actor and his wife brought their first child, a son named McCoy Lee Porter, into the world. Porter announced the arrival of his kid on Instagram at the time, noting that his son weighed 8 pounds 5 oz and measured 20.5 inches tall with a 38-centimeter head.
His wife had gone through 44 hours of labor without any medication, according to his post. The star praised his child’s mother, describing her as a gladiator. The couple welcomed their daughter two years after their son was born.
The Scorpion actor shared a photo of himself cradling his baby on Instagram to mark the birth of their second child.
“World, Sweet Dreams. He captioned the adorable photo, “Welcome to the world, little girl!”
The actor did not, however, share the name of their daughter. Porter frequently posts photos of his family on social media, and it’s clear that the father of two cherishes his kids.
