At a Young Age, Married Ex-Husband: Miscarriage & Physical Abuse

Givens married Mike Tyson eleven months after their first date on February 7, 1988.

Givens was three months pregnant at the time, which necessitated a hasty wedding. Givens was twenty-four years old when they married, while Mike was twenty-two years old. Both were in their twenties and prosperous.

In a June 1988 interview with Barbara Walters, she discussed her turbulent relationship with Mike. Givens had already miscarried at that point.

In an interview, Robin described how he discovered Given’s miscarriage, stating:-

“She was supposedly three months pregnant when we got married”

He continued:-

“Now it was June and she hadn’t gained a pound, so the next thing I knew she was in bed and claimed she had miscarried our baby.”

Robin began the interview by outlining Tyson’s strengths then quickly shifted the focus to his shortcomings. He was described by her as having an “extremely volatile temper.”
Additionally, she described him as:-

“He’s got a side to him that’s scary. Michael is intimidating, to say the least. I think there’s a time when he cannot control his temper. And that’s frightening to me. To my mother. To anyone around.”

Walter then proceeded to ask Robin if her husband had hit her or not. Robin responded:

“He shakes, he pushes, he swings. Just recently I have become afraid. I mean very, very much afraid.”

Givens filed for divorce shortly after the interview, alleging spousal abuse. They divorced after three months of marriage.

Post-Divorce Life: Brad Bitt’s Romance Following Her Split From Her Ex-Husband

On Valentine’s Day 1989, their divorce was formalized. Mike disclosed that Givens reportedly secured a settlement in excess of $10 million despite the fact that they never signed a prenuptial agreement.

Mike had a net worth of $50 million at the time. Givens, on the other hand, has stated that she has not collected “a single penny” from her ex-husband.

Mike later discovered his ex-wife in Brad Pitt’s arms following their divorce. He admitted that when he saw his ex-wife with Pitt, he became a wet noodle. He admitted that he continued to visit his ex-wife even after they divorced. He described the incident as follows:-

“As I go to my car she drives up with the handsome Brad Pitt, It just totally overwhelmed me. I had no energy to fight.”

Call it weakness or reality, but even a fighter as great as Mike Tyson will eventually submit to the force of love.

Relationship Status: Remarried? Children

Givens has already revealed that her relationship with former world heavyweight boxing champion Mike was stormy and violent in an interview with Barbara Walters in 1988.

In a September 2015 interview with Time, she revealed the abusive relationship once more. In reference to the abusive relationship, she stated:-

“Today we are in world where we are far more connected and involved in each other’s lives thanks to social media. Women who are abused can see they’re not alone. I only left my marriage when I felt like I was going to die physically or die emotionally. It’s just amazing what becomes your normal. One day you wake up with a knife at your throat. Another day, your shoes are all torn up. But I did leave and I didn’t take one dime from my husband. I left my house, and I even left my underwear. I just wanted my life. I was very confident that I could make my way on my own. And I did.”

Additionally, she acknowledged Mike’s physical abuse. When he first struck her, she fled to her friend’s hotel room, unable to disclose what he had done to her. She admits that confessing was embarrassing.

Three days after the incident, she begged Mike not to phone her or see her again, but she later went to see him in person since she couldn’t say no to his invitation to meet. She describes the situation as follows:

“And for three days after that incident, I did the right thing. I said: “Don’t call me. I never want to see you again.” But then you start taking his phone calls. Then he asks to see you in person, and you say yes to that. Then you have a big giant man crying like a baby on your lap and next thing you know, you’re consoling him. You’re the protector. One minute you’re running from him, the next you’re protecting him. And being a black woman you feel you want to protect your man.”

Following her divorce from Mike, Robin married tennis instructor Svetozar Marinkovic in 1997. Her marriage to Marinkovic lasted one year.

Following her divorce from the tennis ace, she began dating Howard Stern, a radio and television personality. She was previously linked to actor Terrance Howard.

She was romantically linked to Swedish model Marcus Schenkenberg from 2005 to 2006. Following her breakup with Marcus, she dated actor Hosea Chavez for a year.

Among the other celebs who wooed Robin – who has an estimated net worth of $2 million – are NBA legend Michael Jordan and comedians Eddie Murphy and Damon Wayans.

Concerning her children, she has two sons: Michael Givens, whom she adopted in 1993, and William Givens Jensen, whom she had with her ex-boyfriend tennis player Murphy Jensen (born 1999).

Givens, who was dubbed the most despised woman in America’ following her divorce from boxing champion Mike, is no longer in a relationship.

She is now assisting families, particularly those headed by women and children, who are victims of domestic violence. She has been advocating for victims of domestic violence for over two decades.

Even at the age of 53, Robin continues to work as a lead actor. In November 2018, she was cast with Robin Tunney and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje in the recurring role of Julianne Johnson on the ABC drama series The Fix.
