Rob McElhenney has been married to Kaitlin Olson for a long time, whom he describes as the “funniest woman in show business.”
In 2005, Rob McElhenney recruited Olson for their hit sitcom It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and the two became friends. And he was immediately drawn to her humorous abilities.
Olson was in a relationship with someone else, so he thought of her as a friend. As a result, in season one of the show, the two collaborated as friends. Olson, on the other hand, ended her relationship with her partner in mid-2005.
McElhenney realized his feelings for the comic as soon as this happened. Fortunately, the feeling was reciprocated. Olson had fallen in love with him as well, and it had been love at first sight.
“Like, after I fell in love with him, I realized I was deeply in love with him in a way I hadn’t been in love with anyone else before,” Olson said on the Armchair Expert podcast in 2018.
She was the one who initiated the relationship when they met at a Fox-hosted party. Despite the fact that they had been dating since the second season of the sitcom, they kept their relationship a secret from the rest of the group.

After they started dating in 2006, McElhenney’s relationship with Olson went nicely. They had already become engaged by 2007, and they married less than a year later. The couple hitched married in a small Malibu ceremony on September 27, 2008.
Since the wedding, McElhenney has shown his gratitude to his wife on several occasions, emphasizing how fortunate he is to be with her. He shared a photo of Olson on March 8, 2020, with a caption about how he used to watch her on Curb Your Enthusiasm before relocating to Los Angeles.
“She was so witty and so lovely and so out of my league,” he thought to himself.
“Well, it’s eighteen years later, and tonight I get to hold her hand, watch her on another episode of Curb,” he said, expressing his surprise at having her as his wife.
The Philadelphia native expressed his gratitude for his good fortune and thanked his wife for dealing with the challenges in the best way imaginable, saying he could learn a lot from her.

McElhenney and Olson have two children together. Alex Lee, their first child, was born on September 1, 2010. In 2012, they had their second son, Leo Grey, two years later.

McElhenney praised his wife and sang praises of her professional accomplishments in a podcast with Marc Maron in 2017. Olson was also the “greatest mother,” according to the 44-year-old, who added, “Everyone should have a mother like her.”
