While it is true that we are taught from a young age not to make fun of others because of their appearance, many people forget that this simple notion also applies to prominent personalities.
Catherine Reitman is a hot topic, but it’s because of rumors about her appearance rather than the well-deserved success of her Netflix program Workin’ Mom.
The iconic comedy series’ creator, producer, writer, and star has recently been teased about the way her lips look. She has never verified that she was a victim of botched plastic surgery, though she has released “before surgery” images.
Conniving plastic surgeons and Botched doctors Terry Dubrow and Paul Nassif are said to have aided the Black-ish actress, according to reports on the internet. She has never verified this, however.
The 39-year-old has admitted to being teased since she was a child because of her features. She claimed that she was constantly bullied because of her appearance.
According to reports, the actress was a “very awkward-looking youngster” who was called “horse mouth” and other derogatory terms by her friends. And it appears that not much has changed since she walked out of the classroom and into the spotlight.
However, her appearance is more likely to be inherited than to be the result of plastic surgery. Ivan Reitman, Reitman’s father, has a pout that is quite similar to Reitman’s. He directed films such as Ghostbusters, Kindergarten Cop, Space Jam, and Twins, among others.
On Netflix, the show Workin’ Moms is highly popular. However, a slew of viewers complain that Reitman’s appearance has “distracted” them from the show’s main message.
“I started watching Working Moms, but the main character’s lips are driving me crazy. I’m not sure how long I’ll be able to watch her lol,” one Twitter user remarked.
Fans, on the other hand, have defended her. A Reddit member said in a No Holds Barred thread that her lips have always had “a kind of adorable quirk to her face.”
Fans have also quickly defended her on Twitter, effectively attempting to turn the attention back to her job. The issue appears to be that the multitalented artist’s lips are diverting fans and potential viewers from the show, but it doesn’t seem to matter because the show is well-received, especially in the United States and Canada, and has five seasons.
Similarly, Reitman created Workin’ Moms based on her experience with postpartum depression and insisted on laughing through the suffering.
“I began to realize the’me’ that I was previous to having my son by fleshing out my melancholy, showing the quirky and amusing angles to it,” she told Glamour magazine.
Catherine Reitman is married to Philip Sternberg and the mother of two sons, Jackson and Liam, in her personal life. She is also the younger sister of director Jason Reitman, who is best known for the movies Juno and Up in the Air.
