Noor, who was an active student from a young age, studied broadcast journalism and international development conflict management at the University of Maryland.

She began her career as a journalist in 2012, when she accepted an internship at CBS Radio. She worked for CBS Radio for four years after that, first as a board operator and then as a reporter and news producer.

During that time, Noor started a social media campaign called LetNoorShine and gave motivational speeches all over the world. She also used the campaign to network with influential people and other activists.
