Brittany Matthews, Patrick Mahomes’ fiancee, has faced fire for her celebration of the Kansas City Chiefs’ overtime victory over the Buffalo Bills.
After her husband’s team won 42-36, Matthews shook a bottle of champagne and sprayed it over the throng below from her suite. They also qualified for the AFC Championship Game as a result of the win.
Jackson Mahomes, Mahomes’ younger brother, captured the jubilation on video, which Matthews later shared on Instagram.
She captioned the photo, “Chiefs Kingdom, YALL ROCK,” with a fire and 100 emojis.
Matthews was chastised on social media shortly after making the tweet, with some claiming that the supporters in the stadium below would not have wanted to be showered with alcohol in the frigid temperatures.
The Fiancee of Patrick Mahomes Responds to Criticism
After the outcry, Matthews responded on Twitter. On January 25, 2022, she tweeted, “I just wish I could do what I want without being attacked every week.”
The backlash and hatred she experienced on the internet, on the other hand, did not go away. In fact, the intensity grew even stronger.
A few days later, Matthews sent out another tweet, claiming that those who were criticizing her were more concerned with “clicks & engagement” than with someone’s well-being.
“Let’s be better,” she concluded the post, implying that the situation had been exaggerated and was similar to harassment or bullying.
Matthews also revealed that she will be designing “Team Brittany” t-shirts for a bullying prevention organization. She explained that the earnings would go to Red Card KC, a bullying prevention organization.
Fans Showed Their Support Matthews has received a lot of support from Chiefs fans during the experience. Many people flocked to her rescue in the wake of the negative internet comments about her party.
“At one game, I was seated below her. “I’m sure it wasn’t unanimous, but when she did it, the crowd was shouting WITH her and encouraging her,” one person said.
Another remarked on how strange it was that Mahomes’ girlfriend, who was also his child’s mother, couldn’t celebrate without being chastised.
Fans later showed their support for Matthews by holding up a placard that read, “Let’s spray some more champagne #TeamBritt,” during another game.
“Ready for a champagne shower,” read another sign, and Matthews expressed her gratitude for the support on Instagram Stories.
The Love Story
Mahomes and Matthews have a lengthy history together. They originally met at Whitehouse High School in Texas, where they were both students.
Matthews was a junior, while Mahomes was a sophomore. Soon after, they began dating and have been together ever since.
They got engaged in 2019 after years of being together. Before the 2019 NFL season, he proposed to her immediately after obtaining his Super Bowl ring.
On February 20, 2021, after Matthews gave birth to daughter Sterling Skye Mahomes, the couple became parents for the first time.
She used a photo of the three of them holding hands to announce the birth of their child.
