For basketball legend Michael Jordan, divorce from his first wife was a well-learned lesson. He may be brilliant in his job, but his love life lacked the possibility of a happy family.
In his pursuit of the most outstanding figures, he neglected his family life during his formative years. His connection with his ex-wife had been poisoned, and there was no remedy available. In the end, the couple divorced.
Michael, on the other hand, did not abandon his pursuit for the love and pleasure that come with a content family life simply because his eyes gleamed with joy. Indeed, he is now leading a happy family life.
Micheal Jordan’s Nearly Two-Decade-Long Married Life Comes to an End:
Micheal Jordan, a former Chicago Bulls star, was previously married to Juanita Jordan. He first met Juanita during his second season with the Bulls, when they met at a Chicago restaurant.
The couple struck it off immediately and were soon poised to exchange wedding vows. On 2 September 1989, Michael married Juanita. Chicago hosted the wedding ceremony.
The couple began their family life following the wedding and currently share three children – son Jeffrey, Marcus, and daughter Jasmine.
The two dated for 17 years, but things were not as they were in the beginning. Their relationship had been shattered in such a way that they were unable to mend it.
Juanita filed for divorce in January 2002 but withdrew the suit a month later. During that time period, the couple announced that they were attempting reconciliation.
However, their attempt to cling to one another for the sake of their family was unsuccessful. After 17 years together, the couple filed for divorce again a few years later. During that time period, the couple issued a statement through their attorneys stating that they had mutually agreed to end their marriage amicably. The statement was as follows:
“Michael and Juanita Jordan mutually and amicably decided to end their 17-year marriage,”
According to divorce filings filed with the Lake County Circuit Court that year, the couple said that their marriage had ended due to irreconcilable disagreements. Additionally, the couple submits a request stating that any attempt at reconciliation would be detrimental to the family’s best interests. According to their statement,
“irreconcilable differences have caused an irretrievable breakdown of the marriage. Any attempts to reconcile their marriage had failed and future ones would be impractical and not in the best interests of the family.”
That year, the couple divorced.
Rediscovered Love; Welcomes Children, Creating a Family of Four
However, Michael, who retired with one of the NBA’s most spectacular résumé, gave love and family another shot. He exchanged marriage vows with Yvette Prieto for the second time.
Michale met Yvette in 2008, two years after his divorce. Michale encountered and confronted Yvette while both were at a Miami nightclub. They clicked and began dating.
After three years of dating, Michael got down on one knee and proposed to Yvette. The couple exchanged vows on Christmas Day, 2011.
Following their engagement, the couple awaited the ideal moment to tie the nuptial knot. In 2013, after two years, the couple scheduled their wedding ceremony. The couple applied for their wedding license at the Palm Beach County courthouse in March 2013.
They applied for a marriage license at the Palm Beach County courthouse in March. Two months later, in April 2013, the pair married in Palm Beach. The wedding ceremony took held at Bethesda-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church.
Following the wedding, the pair hosted a reception at the Bears Club in Jupiter, a Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course enclave where Michael owns a 38,000-square-foot property.
Currently, the couple has identical twin daughters Victoria and Ysabel. Their first child was born in February 2014.
Issues With Ex-Girlfriend
Michael Jordan, who has a net worth of $1.5 billion, too experienced troubles with his ex-girlfriend. Karla Knafel, Michael’s ex-girlfriend, said that Michael broke a commitment to pay her $5 million in hush money after she persisted in becoming pregnant with his kid.
However, conclusive tests indicated that Michale was not the father of the child. During that time period, the judge decided in Michael’s favor, declaring that any supposed agreement between Michael and Karla was illegal.
Additionally, Michael has denied ever agreeing to pay Karla $5 million.
