Melissa Warburg Rosenberg, known professionally as Melissa Rivers, is the only child of late comedian Joan Rivers and producer Edgar Rosenberg. Melissa’s father committed suicide, leaving her and her mother to fend for themselves. Melissa took her mother’s surname after her father died, becoming Melissa Rivers.
Melissa, now 51, was born in New York City but spent her childhood in Los Angeles. She became interested in dancing when she was eight years old. Her parents provided once-a-week group lessons classes to help her develop her talent and enthusiasm.
Melissa eventually became serious about her dance and began taking private lessons at the age of twelve.
Melissa received her education at the John Thomas Dye School, Marlborough School, and The Buckley School. After finishing high school, she enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History.

The interesting thing about her plastic surgery is that she never denied it and often made jokes about it.
Joan thinned her nose after her eye lifting procedure while in college. Joan made a joke about her plastic surgery, saying that after she died, she would donate her body to Tupperware.
Unfortunately, Joan stopped breathing during a minor throat procedure on August 28, 2014, due to severe complications. She was later transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital and placed on life support. Sadly, she died on September 4, 2014, after never waking up from an induced coma.
Melissa filed a malpractice lawsuit against the doctor who performed surgery on her mother on January 26, 2015. The case was settled for an unspecified sum.
