While visiting her grandfather’s coffee shop in Pontotoc, which was close to a barbecue restaurant, Melissa developed a taste for barbecue. While sitting in her grandfather’s coffee shop, she used to smell barbecue and, if she was lucky, get a sandwich.
She worked in food preparation for many years and met her husband Pete along the way. Melissa, on the other hand, didn’t consider starting a barbecue business until she met her husband, Pete Cookston.
