Santiago Cabrera is a Venezuelan actor best known for his appearances in the television series Heroes (2006-2007), Merlin (2008-2010), and The Musketeers (2014-2016).

Originally, Santiago Cabrera planned to pursue a career in soccer, but he dropped out after discovering he didn’t have the potential to advance beyond the semi-professional level. Fortunately, his love of acting catapulted him to international success.

Santiago Cabrera- Early Life

Santiago Cabrera was born in Caracas, Venezuela on May 5, 1978. Pablo Cabrera Gaete, his father, was a Chilean ambassador, and Cecilia Perez Walker was his mother.

Santiago grew up in London, Romania, Toronto, and Madrid due to the nature of his father’s business. The actor is the middle child of three siblings, including a sister and a brother.

Baby The Heroes actor Santiago Cabrera married theater director Anna Marcea in 2003. When Santiago was training at the Drama Center London, the two met.

For the first few years, the couple didn’t have much money, so they postponed their plans to have children. When Santiago finally found success and enough money to sustain his children, the couple encountered enormous misfortune.

Anna had two miscarriages in a row. The events were quite hard on the partnership, and they went through a difficult period. They even opted against having children at all.

The couple was gifted with a child just when they had determined to stay childless. The actor and his wife welcomed a new member to their family in April 2016: a boy named Kilian Emiliano.

Career

In 2003, Santiago Cabrera made his debut in the British television drama series Spooks. He appeared as a supporting character in a number of other works. His first starring part was in Empire, a 2005 series in which he played Octavius, Rome’s first emperor.

Following this role, he was cast as the main character in Heroes. His portrayal of Issac Mendez in Heroes made him a fan favorite and catapulted his career to new heights.

Santiago Cabrera used his newfound celebrity to play Camilo Cienfuegos in Steven Soderbergh’s Che (2008). The film received a lot of positive feedback from audiences and was also critically acclaimed.

Since then, he has been in numerous films and television shows, including Merlin, Transformers: The Last Knight (2017), Hemingway & Gelhorn (2012), The Musketeers, Anna Karenina (2012-2013), and Salvation (2017-2018).

Star Trek: Picard, the Venezuelan actor’s next major project, is expected to premiere on January 23, 2020.
