Geoff launched his own restaurant, Chef Geoff’s, in Washington, D.C., after graduating in 2000. In 2002, he opened a second Chef Geoff’s in the D.C. downtown area, following the success of his first business. He was still in his twenties at the time.
O’Donnell’s husband built his third restaurant, LIA’s, in Chevy Chase, Maryland, four years later. Hank’s Tavern, his second Maryland restaurant, launched in 2008. In cooperation with his brother Chris Tracy, the Georgetown University alum runs the 200-seat restaurant. Chef Geoff’s Tysons Corner, his fifth restaurant, debuted in Vienna, Virginia in 2009.
Every year, Geoff’s restaurants serve 750,000 people and employ over 300 workers. Tracy is in charge of the restaurant’s food, marketing, finances, and idea. Norah’s partner is a co-author of Baby Love — Healthy, Easy, Delicious Meals for Your Baby and Toddler. Tracy’s wife, Norah O’Donnell, is the other author of the book.

The chef is a member of the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington’s executive board. Every year, he donates to over 150 charities and organizations through silent auctions, fundraising events, and even his own Chef Geoff-sponsored Little League team.
Geoff received The Best Neighbor Award from the National Restaurant Association in 2006 for his efforts to the community. In 2009, he was named “Chef of the Year” by Albert Uster. Tracy is also a member of the Young Presidents Organization’s Washington Baltimore chapter.

In 2018, O’Donnell’s spouse, Geoff Tracy, filed a lawsuit against the Commonwealth of Virginia, claiming that limitations restricting his free speech in paid advertising were unconstitutional. As a result of the lawsuit, those requirements will be repealed beginning in 2019.

On June 8, 2001, Geoff married his wife O’Donnell. At Georgetown University, they met. He told the Washington Post that he first met Norah and her roommate in a cafeteria line during his freshman year of college.
Tracy proposed to O’Donnell during dinner at Thomas Keller’s famed restaurant, French Laundry, in Yountville, California. Tracy’s wife, O’Donnell, said in an interview that she and Tracy painted the walls of Tracy’s first restaurant together because they couldn’t hire painters or contractors.
In a 2019 interview with CBS’s Watch! Magazine, O’Donnell described her husband as “very supportive and organized,” adding that he is in charge of the majority of the household operations.
When asked how they maintain a work-life balance when each of them spends the most of their time in a different city, O’Donnell explained that they accomplish so by rigorous scheduling.

Tracy and his wife, O’Donnell, live in New York City’s Upper West Side, with the latter sharing his time between Washington, D.C., and the city. The reporter and the chef purchased a $3.2 million home in Wesley Heights, D.C., in 2010.
They had planned to renovate their kitchen in 2013, but O’Donnell was offered a job at CBS News and had to relocate to New York.
They share their time between a New York apartment and their D.C. house, according to the Washington Post. The house has seven bedrooms and is divided into four stories.

Mrs. Geoff told People how she was parenting her children while working from home due to the epidemic, and she predicted the year 2020. She claimed she was on the phone with someone from the White House when her daughter yelled at her about the printer.

Tracy sued the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control in March 2018, claiming the state’s right to prevent him from properly promoting happy hour promotions.
Restaurants and bars in Virginia were previously barred from specifying discounted rates in any marketing materials and were only allowed to use general terminology like “happy hour” and “drink specials” when announcing services. For example, mentioning the length of happy hour is acceptable; however, mentioning “two-for-one” drink promotions is not.
Tracy and his legal team contended that the rules were unjust. They underlined that the restrictions infringed on his First Amendment rights, and they requested that bureaucrats be informed that they cannot prohibit accurate, non-misleading information.
The law was eventually relaxed in Virginia. Bars and restaurants could utilize promotions like “Wine Down Wednesday” to advertise drink pricing as long as it didn’t promote excessive or underage drinking, according to their new guideline. On July 1, 2019, the rule went into force.
