Margaret Cho was born Margaret Moran Cho on December 5, 1968, in San Francisco, California. Margaret’s parents, Seung-Hoon and Young-Hie, arrived in the United States in 1964 from Seoul, Korea, and her father was deported a few days after she was born due to a lack of a work permit. He and his wife eventually moved to San Francisco, where he co-owned the Paperback Traffic bookstore and wrote comedy books.
