Doris, a former Providence Friars basketball player, also worked at New York Knicks games. She won the 2018 Curt Gowdy Media Award from the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Doris Burke, a sideline reporter for ABC Sports and the NBA Finals, was previously married to Gregg Burke, the Deputy Director of Athletics. In 1989, they exchanged wedding vows. For many years, Gregg and Burke had an incredible bond as husband and wife. They were unable to maintain their relationship for long and eventually divorced.
Doris gave birth to their first child, Sarah Burke, in 1992, while Gregg and Doris were still together. In 1994, they welcomed their son, Matthew Burke, who was born shortly after Sarah.

Doris and Gregg Burke, Sarah Burke’s parents, have been involved in sports for over a decade. Doris, her mother, is a sports analyst and commentator, as previously stated. Similarly, Sarah’s father, Gregg, is the University of Rhode Island’s head coach. Sarah, on the other hand, decided to pursue a career in a field other than sports.

Sarah met her future husband, John Mickles, during her first semester at Villanova Law School in 2015. Mickles invited Burke to the movies after a few months. Since then, the two have grown closer and have begun dating. According to some sources, the Philadelphia Art Museum was their first date.
In August 2019, after being in a romantic relationship for a few years, John proposed to Sarah with an engagement ring on a weekend trip to Rhode Island.

The Fight Between Sarah Burke’s Mother and COVID-19
Doris Burke, the most prominent sideline reporter for ESPN’s NBA playoff games, tested positive for the coronavirus. Burke made the announcement on an episode of Adrian Wojnarowski’s ESPN show The Woj Pod.
Sarah’s mother, Doris, claims she first noticed her symptom on March 11th, while working for ESPN at a Denver Nuggets-Dallas Mavericks game. During her lunch with the broadcast crew, she felt tired and had a severe headache.
Doris also stated in The Woj Pod that from March 14 to 17, she was unable to get out of bed for more than five minutes due to extreme fatigue. Sarah’s mother, on the other hand, is now symptom-free. Burke wants people to maintain social distance after recovering from COVID-19, practice handwashing, and listen to what trusted medical professionals say.
