Laura Sanko is Invicta FC’s equivalent of UFC’s Joe Rogan. She is a former MMA fighter who has transitioned from fighting to interviewing and presenting stories of other fighters’ journeys to the top of the sport.
Being a woman in sports writing and broadcasting, on the other hand, is not something that everyone enjoys or comprehends. In Laura’s situation, it’s come to the point where some people have harassed her and directed anger at her simply for performing her work. This could explain why the ESPN reporter posts so little about her husband and child on social media.
Laura Sanko and her husband have been married for nearly a decade
Laura Sanko, as previously stated, keeps her personal life secret. That does not, however, imply that she has never spoken about her family.
Nathan Sanko, an entrepreneur, is the ESPN reporter’s husband. She has a couple photos of him on her Instagram account. Laura took to Instagram on September 7, 2018, to commemorate her 6th wedding anniversary with Nathan.
“6 years married…12 years total,” she captioned a photo of herself and her spouse. With you, life is always an adventure! Thank you for everything you do and for the life you provide Burke and me. Nathan, I wish you a happy anniversary.” As a result, she stated that they’d been dating since 2006.
Relationship Status
Sanko and her spouse had a baby son a year after they married. Burke, the couple’s son, was born on December 20, 2013.
She shared some photos of him from when he was younger to the present day on his birthday in 2018, demonstrating how he had matured over the years. The caption on the photo underlined her admiration for Burke, writing,
I’d want to wish the coolest 5-year-old I know a happy birthday! It’s been the best experience of my life to watch you grow from a baby to a humorous, brilliant, and kind-hearted guy. Burkel Bear, Mommy and Daddy adore you more than anything.
On May 13, 2019, Sanko shared more facts about Burke’s childhood in a Mother’s Day post. It was her first photo with her child, according to her caption. Burke had to be transported to the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) shortly after his birth, she added. Then she thanked him for giving her a child and playfully praised her husband for his contribution.
As a former mixed martial artist, she instills the same values in her son. The mother-son duo may be seen sparring in a charming video she released on June 8, 2018.
She clarified in the post that Burke wasn’t psychologically prepared to learn martial arts properly because he didn’t have the attention span. She also stated that the training, which she dubbed Bedtime Fight Club (BFC), would prepare him for official lessons when he was older and if he wanted to try them out.
Laura Sanko has stopped posting about her family due to hostile comments
Laura Sanko isn’t the type of woman who brags about her spouse or family on social media. She has always kept her personal life apart from her family’s.
One of the reasons for this could be because she has always been mistreated by MMA fans on social media. She used to get unsolicited obscene photographs and harassment from internet admirers, according to BJ Penn.
And it reached a breaking point in August 2019, when she stated on her Twitter and Instagram accounts that she had received death threats.
“I have already settled everything for myself, so flattery and criticism fall down the same drain, and I am completely free,” Georgia O’Keeffe wrote in her Instagram post.”Such a crazy world when I’m threatened with being stabbed and having someone hurt my family—all for doing my work,” she said on both platforms.
When a person can make light of a severe situation and laugh in the face of hardship, however, their power is displayed. And she did just that, concluding her tweet with: The silver lining is that I’ve moved from dick photos to death threats, so I guess I’m in the big leagues now.
As she works her way up the ranks to become a UFC analyst, she hopes to silence the naysayers for the time being. Sanko could be the first female UFC analyst in the near future, according to Dana White (via The Sun).
