Laura Garcia is an American journalist who has won many Emmy awards for her work as the weekday morning news anchor for NBC Bay Area. She worked as a reporter and anchor in San Francisco and Fresno, as well as an investigative reporter and anchor in Phoenix, Arizona, prior to her current post.
Laura Garcia Discovered Her Ambition At High School
Garcia was born on March 5, 1969, in the family of Mike and Ruth Garcia in Porterville, together with her three siblings.
Her family owned six establishments in the valley, including the historic Cassidy’s Shoes on Main Street (which is now closed). Garcia graduated from Monache High School after attending St. Anne’s School.
She realized what she wanted to be in high school as an eager member of Monache’s Youth in Government Club.
She went to Saint Mary’s College of California in Moraga to pursue her aspirations and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Government.
Her Salary as News Anchor at NBC
Garcia got her start in the television industry as a reporter and anchor in San Francisco. She then moved on to KFSN ABC 30 in Fresno, California, where she worked from 1993 until 1995. She relocated to Phoenix, Arizona after Fresno to work for KPHO CBS 5 as an investigative reporter. She then relocated from Arizona to the Bay Area to work for NBC.
She currently anchors NBC Weekday Mornings, NBC Today In The Bay, and NBC Midday In The Bay on weekday mornings. Although she has not disclosed her income, it is assumed that she earns more than the average NBC reporter salary of roughly $80,000 a year.
More importantly, she has received numerous prizes throughout her career, including ‘The Associated Press Reporter of the Year Award,’ as well as numerous ‘Emmy’ and ‘AP’ honors for writing and reporting.
She was also honored by the Bay Area Women in Radio and Television with a ‘Best Daytime Newscast Award’ for her work at NBC in the Bay Area.
Garcia Has Triplets From Ex-Husband
Garcia was previously married to Brent Cannon Schweigert, who now works for DocuSign as a content marketing manager. The couple met while reporting on the same issue for different network channels in San Francisco. They fell in love after meeting and married in 1997, making headlines.
The former couple’s connection was initially strengthened by the fact that they were professional partners as well since they worked as co-anchors on the NBC Morning Show. They welcomed [not oane, but] three bundles of joy into their family in 2009, following twelve years of marriage, when they gave birth to triplets Katherine, Claire, and Jack.
Currently Engaged to a Mysterious Man
Garcia, an NBC anchor, has discovered love after a disastrous relationship with her ex-husband. She has, however, chosen to keep her “Mr. Perfect” a secret, as she has yet to reveal his identity to her fans and the broader public.
That being said, she keeps her followers up to speed on her current personal life status, and on September 30, 2019, she announced on Instagram that she had gotten engaged to her long-time partner.

She posted a photo of her fiancé holding her hands while she flaunted her engagement ring in the post. Aside from that, Garcia has used social media to show off her fiancé’s appearance. On November 1, 2020, she shared a photo of herself, her triplets, and her fiancé celebrating Halloween.
