Career
Kota Ibushi debuted in professional wrestling in July 2004 for the wrestling promotion Dramatic Dream Team. He did, however, lose the match to Atsushi Kudo. He rose to prominence in 2007 after defeating Toba to win the vacant Independent World Junior Heavyweight Championship.
Ibushi then teamed up with Kenny Omega to form the ‘Golden Lovers’ tag team. After defeating Harashima and Toru Awashi, the tandem won the KO-D Tag Team Championship. After being defeated by Dick Togo and Taka Michinoku, they eventually lost the championship. He made his debut in 2009, when he defeated Harashima and won the ‘King of DDT’ title as well as the KO-D Openweight Championship. He won the Ironman Heavymetal Championship the same year, but lost the Openweight Championship to Shijuki Ishikawa later that year.
He resigned from both the DDT and the NJPW in 2016 and began working as a freelancer. He entered the WWE Cruiserweight Championship in June 2016 but was defeated in the semi-finals by T.J. Perkins.
