Walking down the aisle with one’s father is a dream come true for every woman, and Kim Mulkey, the famed women’s basketball coach, was no exception.
In 1987, Kim Mulkey wanted her ex-marine father, Leslie Mulkey, to be present when she married her then-boyfriend, Randy Robertson.
However, because her parents were no longer married, the wedding did not take place as she had planned. Mulkey’s father had married a new woman, and there was some contention over where the new wife would sit during the ceremony.
As a result, her father refused to attend the wedding, despite Robertson’s last-ditch appeal, forcing Mulkey to walk down the aisle alone.
Kim Mulkey- Relationship Status
Mulkey and her husband Robertson had a happy marriage at first. They welcomed their first child, Mackenzie Fuller, three years after their wedding. In 1994, the couple welcomed their second child, a son called Kramer Robertson.
The basketball player was initially intimidated by the prospect of being a dad. She was dead set on her profession and didn’t know how she’d manage to work and be a mother at the same time. But she grew accustomed to the burden one step at a time, nursing her children before, during, and after games and accompanying them on trips.
The 59-year-old was hell-bent on juggling parenthood and career. The California native, on the other hand, was blissfully unaware of her marriage’s deterioration. When her spouse of 19 years announced that he was leaving their home in January 2006, she was astonished and devastated. She and Robertson sought the help of a marriage counselor in Dallas because of their marital problems.
Mulkey was dead set on making their relationship work. She even considered abandoning her coaching and professional activities. But nothing worked, and in 2006, the couple split. Mulkey told The Dallas Morning News in March 2012, “The divorce is the most heartbreaking thing that has happened in my life,” which is understandable.
The guy with whom she had two children and promised to spend the rest of her life with had suddenly become a stranger. They ceased to converse with one another and walked on.

In August 2014, the couple were engaged after Fuller proposed to her in a stadium with a halo diamond engagement ring. In July of 2015, they finally tied the knot.
The couple welcomed their first child, Kannon Reid, on October 12, 2018.
Mulkey’s son, like her daughter, has grown up to be a professional baseball shortstop with the St. Louis Cardinals. While attending Louisiana State University, the 26-year-old played college baseball for the LSU Tigers.
