Kevin began his musical career in 1993 as a drummer for the American rock band ‘Tonic.’ He and four others created the rock band Tonic in 1993. The band consisted of Emerson Hart on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Jeff Russo on lead guitar and backup vocals, Dan Lavery on bass guitar and backing vocals, and Dan Rothchild on bass guitar and support vocals.

In July 1996, they released their debut album, Lemon Parade, which featured the singles Open Up Your Eyes; If You Could Only See; and Soldier’s Daughter. The singles spent a combined 57 weeks on the Billboard 200 and Hot 100, and the album was later certified platinum. In 1997, he was involved in an altercation with one of the band’s members and eventually left the group. He began his acting career after leaving the band.

Eventually attempted again with one of his friends to re-enter the music industry by starting yet another band; unfortunately, the effort failed due to the band’s inability to launch despite the financial and spiritual backing provided by his stepfather, Tom Selleck.
