According to her bio, Katy Zachry was born on December 1, 1979. In terms of education, she earned a BA in Geography from Bucknell University. While in college, she had the opportunity to host broadcasting internships with networks such as WHYY in Philadelphia.

She quickly accepted another job at news stations in Roswell, New Mexico, Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Hartford, Connecticut.
