Earlier this month, the former couple announced their split on their respective Instagram pages.
Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz have filed for divorce
PEOPLE confirms that the 35-year-old reality star filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday.
On March 15, the Vanderpump Rules co-stars announced their separation on their respective Instagram accounts.
“I never imagined I’d be forced to make such a statement.” But I think it’s important that I’m honest with you about my life,” Maloney wrote. “Tom and I are ending our marriage after a 12-year journey through life together. There is no resentment or animosity toward this conclusion, and there are no sides to choose from. We will always have deep admiration for one another, and we treasure our friendship.”
“Despite the fact that our paths may diverge, we will continue to love and support one another’s happiness.” “Thank you for all of your kind words and support,” Maloney said at the end of her announcement, which was accompanied by a carousel of the couple’s photos.
Schwartz, 39, also Announced their Breakup on Instagram with a Heartfelt Message
“Well, this is a bummer.” He began, “How am I supposed to capture 12 years of love in a f–in canned Instagram caption?” “I’m not ready to use the ‘D’ word yet because it hurts too much.” My heart hurts, but I’ll be fine.
“I fully respect Katie’s decision, and we’ve had productive, healthy discussions about it.” It would be far more tragic if she chose to stay with me while unhappy,” he wrote, adding that “over the course of our relationship, we had some of the most blissful, romantic, fun times humanly possible” and that Maloney has “taught me so much about love & being a better partner.”
Maloney was photographed without her wedding ring on Instagram earlier this week, sparking rumors of a breakup.

Following their announcement, Maloney expressed her desire to do what is best for her.
Maloney said her “most empowering moment” was “choos[ing] myself, in any form,” during Dear Media’s Women’s History Month celebration.
“Accept and love yourself, and don’t give up,” she said.
After describing Women’s History Month as “a reminder that women are powerful and can run the world,” Maloney shared the best advice she’s ever received: “If you’re being true to yourself, you’ll never have any regrets.”
Following their announcement, the former couple spent time together and dined on an outdoor patio table at Mister O’s in Studio City, California, as seen in photos obtained by TMZ. A photo from the meetup was shared by the TomTom restaurateur, which Maloney reshared on her page. “It’s all good,” she wrote alongside the image.
The now-ex-couple married in 2016, but it wasn’t until 2019 that they filed the official paperwork to be legally married.
